The next big BMW for enthusiasts is going to be the 2 Series Coupe. It’s going to be the next two, door, rear-wheel drive, straight-six BMW and, potentially, the last. From what we can see in these photos, the 2022 BMW 2 Series will get traditional looking kidney grilles that, while still quite large, are far more elegant than those found on 4 Series models.
BMW’s M Division is finally going to be making its own bespoke performance car, built entirely by BMW M and not based on an existing BMW product. It’s going to be called the BMW XM, and it’s not only going to be the first bespoke M model but also the first electrified proper M car.
December 2022 will kick off with the production of the BMW M2 G87 platform. The second generation BMW M2 will arrive in customers’ hands in early 2023, and it’s shaping up to be one, if not the best driving M car on the market. These new images hail from the Nürburgring, showing again a high camouflage test mule.
These new spy photos give us our first glimpse inside the company’s redesigned flagship 7 Series. Despite what appears to be a fairly advanced stage of development, we’re not expecting to see the next 7 Series revealed publicly for a while yet because the current car was just refreshed for the 2020 model year.
The race is an unusual one, almost unfair, if you will. The era of dominant sports cars is over, and SUVs are expected to do drag races just as well. This new M4 Competition is at a severe disadvantage for one reason: it doesn’t have AWD.
Here are three vehicles with very little in common engaging in a drag race. The BMW X4 M40d is a coupe-inspired crossover with a diesel engine. The Audi E-Tron is a crossover with an electric powertrain, and the Honda Civic Type R is a front-wheel-drive hot hatch.
The BMW X3 M proved its worth in a lot of situations ever since it came out. One of the first things people did with it was drag race it, as this was the first time BMW offered a proper X3 with the M badge on it. The X3 M, especially in Competition guise, managed to beat most of its rivals on the drag strip.
There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that the BMW M5 CS is one of the fastest cars in production today. When it comes to BMW’s history, the M5 CS is actually the fastest, most powerful car they ever made but, even if you change the scale to the entire industry, it is still one of the fastest cars you can buy.
Just last month, the 2021 ALPINA B8 Gran Coupe showed its face to the automotive world, offering everything you will expect from the car manufacturer situated in the little town of Buchloe in Bavaria. The Germans, led by the extremely charismatic CEO, Andreas Bovensiepen, created a BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe with their highest levels of performance, dynamics and comfort in an understated and beautiful design.
In this new video from Piston Heads, we get to see if the BMW M5 CS is the car we hope it is. Dig into it a bit more, and you’ll see that the M5 CS means business. According to PH’s Dan Prosser, the BMW M5 CS is very, very good.
BMW is getting into the EV game for real now—years after testing the waters with the i3 and the i8—and its newest battery-electric models are coming here in a matter of months. If you’ve been waiting for an electric 3-Series, you’ll be able to buy… an electric 4-Series Gran Coupe when two versions of the i4 land here in the first quarter of 2022.
